ZERO electric motorcycles have hit the showrooms in Thailand.
Thai Yarnyon Group, an automotive company belonging to the Leenutaphong clan, recently made the move into the electric motorcycle market, bringing in the US-made Zeroes through its subsidiary, BV Moto, which was appointed official importer and retailer of the motorcycles.
Zero made its Thailand debut at the Thailand International Motor Expo last month.
Three sports models are being offered with prices ranging from Bt690,000 (RM75,751) to Bt870,000 along with three motocross models priced from Bt630,000 to Bt780,000.
“We plan to introduce an additional model this year and sell a total of 30 units this year,” company director Baromkroch Leenutaphong said. Baromkroch is also vice president of Thai Yarnyon.
“The highlight of Zero motorcycles is the instantaneous torque delivery as well as ease of maintenance. Apart from charging from normal home AC outlets, the battery can also be removed and charged independently,” he added.
“This is a long-term investment for us and although it may take many years, in five to 10 years more automobiles and motorcycles will be electrically powered,” he predicted. – Eco Business.
