INDONESIA will next month get Yamaha’s newest sport scooter, the NMAX, which has been designed as a “city commuter” that will be a natural rival to the new breed of Vespas, judging from its specifications.
The new model features a body that is reminiscent of the MAX series, which has been popular in Europe since its release in late 2000, as well as a newly-developed 155cc water-cooled engine based on the BLUE CORE concept.
Main features include the water-cooled engine with variable valve actuation, lightweight and high-rigidity frame that supports sharp and sporty handling, 13-inch tyres specially developed for this model to help provide natural handling and ABS to support sporty performance (the first ASEAN scooter model to be equipped with the system).
Manufacturing is being undertaken by Indonesian group company PT. Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing.
The NMAX has been developed to play a big role in the company’s growth plans as a global model.
The NMAX expands the MAX series that include the top of the line 530cc TMAX, followed by the XMAX in 400cc, 250cc, and 125cc configurations. The new global model inherits the DNA of the MAX series, with sporty handling and styling while combining practicality.
