DESPITE challenging time with market uncertainties, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd has announced today that it has sold 95,861 vehicles.
The implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) and fluctuation of ringgit somehow slowed down the economy, but the company’s two brands, Toyota and Lexus managed to sell 93,760 and 2,101 units respectively.
The outstanding sales figure is contributed mainly by the popular Toyota Vios with close to 34,000 units sold, other than Hilux double cab and Corolla Altis with 24,000 and 8,000 units sold respectively.
In addition to that, with over 5,000 units sold, the Camry Hybrid which is the company’s first locally assembled hybrid also received overwhelming response from customers.
Lexus Malaysia at the same time announced today that it has hit sales record in 2015 and the achievement enables the brand to strengthen its position in luxury vehicle market segment in the country.
The best-seller premium compact SUV, the Lexus NX leads the Lexus sales at 54% with over 1,100 units sold. With 33% and 9% sales, the figure is represented by Lexus’ other models which are the ES range and the newly-launched RX respectively.
