RON 100 available soon in Klang Valley

By Yamin Vong

Research Octane Number 100, otherwise known more commonly as RON100 fuel will soon be available in Klang Valley. In the current market, RON97 is the highest compression rated fuel available in Malaysia.

Owners who prefer higher octane fuel for their high perfomance machines can soon opt for RON100, to be called Blaze by Petron. The first fuel station set to offer this latest product is located in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail in Kuala Lumpur.

Essentially, it is a higher RON rated fuel that meets the Euro 4M standard that comes with the European Fuel Directed Standard which was implemented in Malaysia back in September of 2015.

For years, those who were in the know had been harping on why cleaner fuel is not available in Malaysia.

Car owners in Malaysia especially those who drive diesel cars were only very recently given the option to pump Euro 5 Diesel, first introduced by BHPetrol and then Shell since December of 2015.

Given these choices available for petrol driven cars, owners in the Klang Valley will soon have an option of three petrol products for their petrol engines, namely RON95, RON97 and also RON100.

Petron Blaze RON100 is expected to be priced between RM2.25/litre 5 and RM3.40/litre. How the fuel price floats will depend largely on the performance of crude oil prices.

The question to be asked next is how soon will the rollout of these clean fuel products take for the rest of the nation?
