BERMAZ Motor this week previewed the upcoming Mazda CX-5 SUV CKD, which is understood to be assembled at Inokom’s plant in Kulim.

It was also revealed that the locally-assembled CX-5 will come with two engine options – the Skyactiv-G 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre. The 2.0-litre CX-5 2WD will be available in two guises, the Mid Spec and High Spec, whereas the 2.5-litre version will be sold in the market in 2WD and AWD.

All variants of the new CX-5 will also be fitted with a six-speed automatic transmission. Also available as standard across the line-up are safety features in the form of six airbags, ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, the dynamic stability control as well as the traction control system.

The 2016 Mazda CX-5 will be fitted with features such as a new front grille and signature wing design. These will be combined with new LED front headlamps and daytime running lights. Other interior features will include the push start button, six speakers, reverse camera, cruise control, MZD CONNECT Infotainment with a 7-inch full colour touchscreen display and multi-function commander control.

The CX-5 CKD will be sold in four colours: Artic White, Blue Reflex, Meteor Grey and Aluminium Metallic. However, details on the selling price have not been disclosed as yet.
