Custom culture is alive and well down south, with over 6000 attendees to the inaugural Ride It Out (RIO) showcase at the Periling Mall, Johore organised by KJ Garage and the OS Johor Tribe this January 23-24.
The classic and retro show for both cars and bikes saw 200 participants over its two days, with a night time aural experience courtesy of the bass-thumping Audio Sistem Johor team.
Other activities include a welding demo, car boot sales, beauty contests for both bike and car categories and others.
Organiser Jamaluddin Mansor’s intent for Ride It Out was to increase appreciation for classic and retro car art and modifications, especially the latter although it causes friction with the authorities but he affirms that the youth community that participates in his show pay due attention to road safety.
The success of this first RIO was encouraging, he added, and he hopes for the next instalment to be even bigger with more activities for both participants and visitors.
Even more impressive, RIO received support from Tourism Johor in the form of event officiation by officer Syed Shami Syed Amin alongside venue sponsorship from PNB Commercial.
