Perodua is getting closer to produce its first sedan model after unveiling a concept car called Buddyz at Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) 2013 today.
The four-door sedan is said to be economical to run with 20km per liter fuel consumption with close attention to performance and technological features targeted at Gen Y and Gen Z segments.
At one glance, the concept sedan car offers stylish personality with low roof and sleek aerodynamics. Visitors to KLIMS13 may notice the concept car is a departure from the current Myvi with clean incisive shape and noticeable lighting rudiments.
Perodua’s president and chief executive officer Datuk Aminar Rashid Saleh said the design of the concept car was conceptualized for the younger generation to suit the domestic and international markets with guidance from its technical and technology partner Daihatsu Motor Co of Japan.
“Buddyz is the next phase after introducing the concept car Bezza at KLIMS10 after gathering feedback from customers and visitors three years ago.
“The design process still need to be resolved and currently the car is going through the engineering phase and obtain final feedback from stakeholders,” said Aminar to journalists after unveiling Buddyz at KLIMS13 this evening.
However, he was not able to confirm when the model would be commercialized.
“All I can say at the moment, Buddyz is getting closer to the production process," he said, adding that the car is four meters length and would offer space for the bonnet up between 400 to 500 liters, the largest in its class.
CBT understands that Buddyz was designed from scratch by a team of local designers and is considered as a technological breakthrough to reflect Peroadua’s commitment to develop its own platform.
“Since this model is aimed for the Generation Y and Z, this car is an integration for men and machine where it will be equipped with gadgets of the latest technology.
“This sedan compact will also use a new aluminium engine to meet the Euro 4 standards to reduce carbon emissions compared to Euro 2 standards at the moment," he said.
Asked on the price range for the sedan model, Aminar smiled and said: “This model is meticulously planned and executed, to give our customers the best motoring experience at an affordable price."
