Turns out that the scoop story first reported by CBT in February this year appears to be correct. Yamin also reported on the same earlier in June. Honda Malaysia will be producing the Jazz Hybrid at its Pegoh, Melaka plant by the end of this year.
Honda Malaysia has invested a sum of RM 350 million to expand its current plant by adding a second line, raising the plant's annual capacity from the current 50,000 units to 100,000 units by the end of this year.
Malaysia is the second country after USA to produce a hybrid Honda model outside Japan.
Currently, the Honda Jazz Hybrid, along with all other Honda Malaysia's hybrid model line-up are imported from Japan.
The Honda Jazz Hybrid currently retails for RM 94,800.
More to come later. Honda Malaysia's managing director Mr. Yoichiro Ueno is delivering his speech for the foundation stone laying ceremony for construction of the Pegoh plant's second line as we bring you this news.
