Lexus LF-LC Awarded Best Concept Car Design of NAIAS 2012

The Lexus LF-LC 2+2 Hybrid Sport Coupe was named as the best concept car design at the annual EyesOn Design Awards at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2012 EyesOn Design Awards honor the most significant automotive designs on display at NAIAS 2012. The awards recognize the skill and creativity of designers in the areas of Aesthetics and Innovation, Concept Implementation, Functionality and Spirit of Industrial Design and are awarded in production and concept categories. The production category was won by Ford Fusion.

“The LF-LC was a dream car to design and a true collaborative effort at Calty,” said Kevin Hunter, president of Calty. “It is an honor to have that work recognized by our peers and to receive the EyesOn Design Award.” The LF-LC is designed at Toyota's Calty design studio in Newport Beach, one of the two Calty studios run by Toyota (the other is at Ann Arbor, Michigan).

EyesOn Design is a vehicle manufacturer funded design awards grouping, which organizes events in support of the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology, a non-profit which accelerates the development of “artificial vision” — technology which will one day allow some blind and visually impaired persons to regain the vision to see the world around them, including seeing the designs of automobiles. Each year, EyesOn Design organizes various events for the transportation design community including the EyesOn Design Week and the EyesOn Design Car Show, a premier design focused car show in.

Top designers from various automakers and transportation design colleges sit at the panel of judges. This year, amongst the names are Harley Davidson's Willie G. Davidson, Audi's Walter deSilva, Kia's Peter Schreyer and Tesla's Franz VonHolzhausen.
