Volvo Cars Malaysia unveiled the all new V60 sportswagon at its showroom in Glenmarie today.

Featuring a coupe-like design, the V60 will be available in two locally assembled variants, the T4 and T5.

While the V60 T5 is fitted with a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct injection (GTDi) petrol engine producing 240hp and 320Nm of torque, the T4 variant comes with a 1.6-litre GTDi engine which produces 180hp and 240Nm of maximum torque.

According to Volvo, the V60 emphasises more on dynamic performance than ever before, featuring similar chassis characteristics as the S60 sedan.

"Our focus was on making the car as close to a coupe as possible while retaining that extra space at the rear. The V60 does not aim to compete with the traditional estate car. This is a Volvo with a different dynamic presence," said Peter Johnson, Volvo Car's Asian region sales and marketing president.

"The typical V60 customer is an S60 buyer who would like some extra space and flexibility, but without compromising on good looks and exciting performance."

Exciting features include adaptive cruise control with queue assist and distance alert, torque vectoring, intelligent driver information system and speed dependent steering, among others.

Priced at RM230,000 (T4) and RM269,000 (T5), the V60 is assembled at Volvo's plant in Shah Alam.
